Books...Books...Books...

Looking for a good book...
I have made a goal to read 52 books this year... needless to say...I have been reading late into the night.
I wanted to share a few books with you... BUT more importantly I want you to share your favorites with me.
I am looking for a good book (or 40)!
Here are a few of my favorites that I have read since January...
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-
I was a little hesitant to read this... sounds a little gruesome, but both this one and the sequel were very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable reads. The bad thing... the third and final book doesn't come out until May. So... if you are going to Europe and can pick up a copy- get me one too.

The Girl That Played with Fire...
The Sequel to the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo... don't let the human trafficking description detract. It is mentioned, but NO detail goes into it. It is like a subplot in the background. A great book... I just can't wait for the next one!
Hotel on the Corner of Biter and Sweet...
Such a good book. Set in 1942 in Seattle, this book deals with the relationships between Japanese Americans & Chinese Americans after Pearl Harbor. I love historical fiction and this one doesn't disappoint.
A Reliable Wife...
I had heard much about this book, yet was hesitant to read it. I wasted time... it is all about a rich man that orders a mail order bride. What gets off the train was not what he thought he was getting... She tries to kill him. An interesting book with many twists and turns...
I have read 12 out of my 52... so I am running ahead of schedule. Just 40 left to go.
I am looking for some good old fashioned chick lit... I have read all of Sophie Kinsella's and LOVED them. What have you read? What do you recommend?
Help me... I am looking for a good book!
P.S. You can follow my progress and see all the books I have read this year on my GOODREADS side bar book shelf.

Hi Amy! Vanessa forwarded your blog to me b/c I have a similar goal this year (12 books--honestly I cannot even wrap my mind around 52!!)

Anyway a few of my faves:
**These is My Words (fave book ever--historical fiction but seriously soooooooo good)
**Cinderella Pact (current fave chick lit)
**If you haven't read the Hunger Games series it's one that will totally suck you in (but be aware that the 3rd book doesn't come out til Aug)

Have you read Bitter is the New Black yet? If not, start with that and then read Bright Lights, Big Ass. Really sarcastic funny stories that are from her life, and there are more after those. And she has a blog. Good chick lit.

Have you read all of the Madeline Wickham books? (She's really Sophia Kinsella so I wasn't sure if you meant you'd read those too.)

I've liked what I've read from Kristin Hannah, too.

And I thought The Hundred Dresses (Eleanor Estes) looked good.

You know that Vanessa thinks we're book nerds, right? Now I want to go count and see how many books I've read so far this year. I'm sure it's not as much as you.

And here I am subscribing to comments so I can see what everyone else recommends.

And to see that yes, I do think you are nerds. But, it's just because I'm jealous that you all read it up and have Kindle's.

Maybe if my city library wasn't such CRAP, I would check more out.

Hunger Games series rocked my world!

The Help by Kathryn Stockett - this was my bookclub pick.

The Shadow Of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (if you liked girl with dragon tattoo, you'll love this!)

These Is My Words by Nancy E. Turner

Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette by Carolly Erickson

Friday Night Knitting Club (great chick lit)

Pillars Of The Earth (long, but SOOOO worth it. You can't put it down)

The Invisible Wall by Harry Bernstein

Man, I could go on and on...

Not exactly Chick Lit, but I LOVED The Gargoyle, and Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs novels, The Thirteenth Tale, and everything by Geraldine Brooks esp. People of the Book. I can also recommend Meg Gardiner's stuff as well as T.C. Boyle's Tortilla Curtain. For just fluff, try Mary Kay Andrews (start with Hissy Fit), Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (always good for a laugh) Stephanie Bond's "Body Movers" series

Three Cups of Tea is MY next book. I am excited - it is supposed to be outstanding.

The BEST book - well written (like alot aren't these days) and leaving you wanting more (there are 7 in the series!) is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a GREAT read! You will fall in love with the Scottish Warrior Jaime and Claire who travels through time by accident to be with him...Oh...Such a great love story as well as intrigue, history, time travel...just amazing.
I am enjoying your book list :D
