Paws...not claws!

For those of you that don't know me... I am somewhat of a neurotic picker.
When I was little I was a total nail biter... I never had pretty nails...always hurting ones.
I started getting my nails done when I was 15 years old.
That is 23 years ago...
I have acrylic nails longer...
than I have really needed a bra...
than I have been able to drive...
than I have known Caylor...
than I was in school (from pre-school to my bachelor's degree...)
Even right after I was married and we were poor white trash...
I had fake fingernails.
I would clean my sister's house and mop her floor so she would do my nails... I was a creative bargaining- bartering - fake nail addict.
I hold my pen like a complete idiot because of my nails...
violin? No...had fingernails.
Piano? No.. I had fingernails. ( although, I did take for years and years, but never learned the bottom hand)
Every once and a while I would achieve great satisfaction by biting them all off.(Usually during church or a long car drive.)
If there was any amount of lifting I would pry those little suckers off!
My fingers throbbing and my cuticles thrashed... I would head to my nail girl for my fix.
Last week on the way home from St. George, Caylor heard me cracking away at my hands and just rolled his eyes... he knew what was happening.
I was taking off the nails. It was okay because I was going to see Chalyce the next day.
A strange thing happened... I felt liberated! I cancelled my appointment, postponing it for a week. I was torn, because Chalyce is one of my most favorite people on Earth and she is cheap therapy... how am I going to see her? What will become of my life?
I cancelled the next appointment and am kind of freed from acrylic. My hands have stopped throbbing somewhat and the cuticles are kind of healing.
Maybe I don't need nails for medicinal purposes!
I don't know how long this will last... but I have paws instead of claws.
I can type, text, & play my izits game on my itouch.
I can't pick real zits, scrub my hair or tickle .
I was usually a white tip french manicure type girl...
but right now I am sporting black, short, Adam Lambert type nails...and
I love them!
Meg thinks I am a goth because I wear black every day and have black nails.
Maybe I will experiment with white foundation, lots of black liner, and a wardrobe from Hot Topic.... first the hair, then the 20 year high school reunion, and now no nails...
I must be having a mid-life crisis!

Brought to you by the letter...

Tanja played a new game on her blog... I decided I wanted to play along, and she assigned me the letter M. Now, this is going to sound so dumb, but M is one of my favorite letters in the alphabet. I love the way it looks... So here is a little bit about Moi... according to the letter M.

1. My first home was a Mortuary...yes, you heard me right. As a new baby I was taken from the hospital to the mortuary because that is where we lived. My dad is a Mortician... it answers a lot of questions!

2. My Man- Caylor is the best ever... I love him Madly! Calling him "my man" is something a crazy little friend of mine started and we all followed suit. That crazy little friend is mentioned below.

3. Mitch- My oldest son. Loved the name Mitchell when I read the book, "The Firm". He is a great boy... smart, funny, handsome, athletic, and just an all around good kid!

4. my Middle boy, Jacks- I couldn't go on and on about my other M kids without mentioning Jackson. He is such a sweet boy!He is my little giant...TALL and skinny. He is a huge help and just a funny, great kid!

5. Meg- Meggie is the little princess that runs this house! She is independant, smart, darling, and always a little sassafrass! I was so excited to have a girl and she was worth the wait.

6. I love being a MoM- I am lucky to be able to stay home with my kids. Somedays are challenging, but I've got the best job in the world!! ( Cheezy... I know!)

7. my MoM- I know I talk alot about Viv, but you've just got to know that she is the absolute BEST! I am headed to St. George this week for a little bit of PARTYtime... I just can't wait, my mom rocks!

8. Money- Not so much earning it, more interested in spending it! I really love to shop! In my next life I am going to come back filthy rich!

9. Milk Chocolate- I am a lover of milk chocolate...none of that bittersweet or semi sweet junk. I also like mocha... basically I like anything that is really sweet, has lots of calories, and not good for you!

10. Memories- One of the basic needs and highest priorities in my life is having fun. It can be a huge personality flaw or just a good time, depending upon the time, place, and who is involved! Making fun memories is something I think should be mandatory each day!

** Here are a few other things I love that start with the letter M... Mac Make-up, MOVIES, Mindi, Monica, More of something great!

This is a M pillow on Meg's bed...LOVE IT, It was the what inspired me to do her room in black, cream, cheetah, and sassafrass.

Have a MARVELOUS day!
If you want to play along...just fill in the info below and I will leave "your"letter as a comment on your blog!

It is all about me...part 2!

The last two days I have really been searching for the "meaning of life"... I found it at Hobby Lobby, Justice for girls, Buckle, and Hip and Humble! Today is part 2 of my quest for selfish indulgence! I got my nails done, met Caylor's cousins and aunt for lunch ( so dang cute and such a fun time), returned some school clothes that didn't work, and stopped to get dinner supplies. Need less to say that I haven't been blogging! I apologize for my lack of comments on your blog and I will resume my blurking and blogging sometime in the future. I am foot loose and fancy free and so glad my cell phone isn't screaming at me and asking , " Mom, when are you going to be home?" I wasn't called mom once during the hours of 9-3:30 and ,I know I am going to get my "Mother of the Year" nominated ripped up , but I liked it! It was great!
